YumYum - Stanford University Smart Products Class Project
YumYum is a smart cooking thermometer.
The process started by talking to people with a range of cooking experience. We wanted to understand why and how they cooked, and what in their life was keeping them from cooking more.
Some people wanted to be more fit, some people cared about saving money, some people wanted to be more present in the kitchen, and others wanted to build their passion for cooking. But they all had one thing in common: they wanted an easy way to learn and grow in the kitchen. And one of the hardest things to learn in cooking is heat management. The reason it’s so difficult is that there’s no obvious way to tell when your pan is ready.
Using it is simple. You just point the laser at your pan, turn the heat on., wait for the light, and start cooking! The default setting is for searing meat, but you can also adjust the temperature to suit your needs.
